WIX LANDING PAGE

DO IT YOURSELF CAMPAIGN

DESIGN BRIEF SUMMARY

In the summer of 2014 Wix Israel I was among 13 graphic designers tasked with suggesting ideas for landing pages the company was about to launch. The designers worked individually and the selected designs were used for their international campaign.

The brief was very free, and the only guide line we were given was to stick to the Wix language and deliver the fun of a do it yourself  experience.

CONCEPT

I began with notions of DIY and craft:

- Available materials

- Independent creation

- Room for mistakes

- Working with the medium's limitations

LANDING AND DEPARTING TERMINOLOGY

Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic finally landed in an unknown location but the important thing was not the place but the land itself.

THOUGHTS ABOUT WHAT IS LANDING/AVIATION

In the chaotic ocean of the internet, navigating aimlessly or purposefully is always an unexpected adventure; I capitalised on ideas of deviation into unplanned space

PROCESS/MORE IDEAS

Apart from modes of transportation my ideas developed around the simplicity of papercraft in the context of Wix’s existing visual language

CONNECTING THE DOTS

For the landing page mockup I used information display often used by Wix: full screen folds which divide the different sections both contextually and visually.

While the text speaks about the process of building a website, it is backed up by visuals which show the process of building an origami figure. I chose to images that contain hands iso that the manual actions will echo the technological terminology.

This move serves the effect of bringing a technological action to the arts and crafts world, and thus reflect the values mentioned in this design's concept.
